Prof. Dr. Bernhard Höfle is Professor of GIScience and 3D Spatial Data Processing and head of the 3DGeo Research Group (https://uni-heidelberg.de/3dgeo) at the Institute of Geography and the Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing (IWR) at Heidelberg University[b1] . Bernhard Höfle also serves as Dean of Studies of the Faculty of Chemistry and Geoscience (since 2017). His main research interest is the development of new digital methods to increase our understanding of geographic processes and their dynamics that shape our environment now and in future. Focus is laid on improving continuous 3D monitoring strategies (e.g. UAV-based LiDAR) and the development of algorithms for automatic analysis of big time series of 3D datasets. This includes scientific contributions to the fields of GIScience, Remote Sensing, LiDAR/Laser Scanning, and Physical Geography.
