Prof. Dr. André Butz
Prof. Dr. André Butz heads the atmospheric physics branch at the Institute of Environmental Physics at Heidelberg University. He investigates the gaseous and particulate composition of the Earth’s atmosphere with a particular focus on greenhouse gases (GHG) carbon dioxide and methane. André Butz graduated with a Ph.D. in physics from Heidelberg University in 2006. After postdoctoral positions at the Netherlands Institute for Space Research in Utrecht, and – as an Emmy-Noether fellow – at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, he was appointed professor at Munich University and Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt in 2016. He returned to Heidelberg as a full professor in 2018.
